Mrs. Kraft's Class

Exciting news! Our classroom received a Donors Choose grant for social emotional books and part of a curriculum called Kimochis. We are continuing to learn about our feelings, and ways that we can express ourselves. We have more Kimochi curriculum coming, and I'm sure you'll be hearing about feelings beyond mad, sad, happy and excited. We've learned about feeling friendly, disappointed, kind, joyful, jealous, left out, and many more. Kimochi is the Japanese word for feeling, and we will have special characters, in the form of plush toys, to help us engage with this exciting program.

This week we learned about Hanukkah. We made menorahs for our board about holiday lights. We also played dreidel and made a dreidel.

Our pajama day and cookie wreath activity will be on Thursday, December 20th. I am still looking for cookie bakers. I will provide the cookie cutters. :-) Please let me know if you are able to help with baking. I will also need volunteers that day for help in class.

Happy Friday!

Hello and Welcome Back!

All of our TK friends are now 5! We celebrated Madison and Neela's birthdays today. We will celebrate our summer birthdays in May before school gets out.

This week we began our "Light the Lights" projects. We will focus on how different cultures celebrate special holidays with lights! We started with Diwali, and made diyas. Throughout the month of December, we will learn how these celebrations all have common themes like, special foods, new clothes, gift giving, music, and hope!

Volunteers! I have amended our centers sign up to include two volunteers for Monday -Thursday. We have a very open sign up beginning in January, please take a look at how you can help out, the class loves to have parents volunteer in the classroom!

Special Event! December 20th, our last day before break, we will have a cozy pajama day, and we will make a special treat for the students to bring home. Our class will be making friendship cookie wreaths that day. I will need bakers to make sugar cookies, and each child will be assigned a specific candy to bring for decorating. I will need several parent volunteers for this event. More information will come home next week.

Book Orders: Scholastic Book Orders came home in Friday Folders today. Please order online, using code NVDZW4, by Thursday, 12/6. I will send orders home in bags in case you're ordering for gifts!
