Memorial Day on Monday, May 31st (No School for Students)

In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no school on Monday, May 31st. School resumes on Tuesday, June 1st.

 

2021-2022 Instructional Calendar

The first day of the 2021-2022 school year is on Tuesday, August 10th. Please check the instructional calendar carefully as you plan your summer break and vacations.  More details regarding the bell schedule to come.

 

California School Parent Survey, 2020-2021

Rancho Romero Elementary School needs you to complete this online survey to learn more about your opinions about it. This survey is an opportunity to communicate your perceptions about your child’s school.  This letter explains the survey and, at the bottom of the page, provides your login, password and access instructions. If you have any questions about this survey, contact Dr. Nguyen at hnguyen2@srvusd.net.

You will have access to this online survey now until the end of May.  The purpose of this survey is to obtain parent perceptions about the school.

Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement.


  • This is an anonymous survey.  It is designed so that no one can be identified from the data.  You do not have to respond to any questions that you feel could be used to identify you.  Simply skip any such questions.

2021-2022 Annual Update

The 2021-2022 Annual Update will open on Monday, June 14, and must be completed before the first day of school.  The Annual Update is a district-wide process held each year to verify household and emergency contact information as well as complete annual release acknowledgement and permission requirements.  Please check your Campus Portal on June 14.  Click here for the Annual Update frequently asked questions. 


Rancho’s End of the Year Video - Pictures/Videos Needed

We are approaching the end of the school year and want to put together a memorable video for our school.  We need your help!  Please take a picture of your child(ren) holding an end of the year message to our Rancho community OR create a quick 5-10 second video.  We will compile all of the pictures/videos into a school video to share.  Submit your picture(s)/video(s) here by Friday, May 28th.


Return Library Books

We are collecting library books!  If your child has a school library book, please return it to the front office on the cart.  Thank you for your support!


Technology Devices

If your child borrowed a school device and is currently not using it, please drop it off in the office.  Our district will be collecting all school devices at the end of the school year.  More information to come regarding drop-off dates/times/locations.


Social Club on Mondays for Grades 3-5

Last day of the Social Club is May 24.

Who: Rancho Students (Grades 3-5)

What: Come and be social with other kiddos your age.

When: Mondays from 2-3 p.m.

Where: Rancho Romero’s Upper Playground (Drop-Off and Pick-Up in the Back Lot)

Why: To get back into the social scene!


Rancho’s Social Club will be supervised by Ms. Harrington.

Come and get outside and meet new friends, see old friends, and have fun!

Only students with Notice and Acknowledgment for Return to On-Campus Learning can participate.


Rancho Romero Kids’ Country Summer Programs

Summer is a time when children want to be free to explore in innovative and adventurous environments.  Kids’ Country offers a variety of fun and enriching summer camps to capture children’s imaginations.  We know your child will have a memorable summer here with us.  Here at Kids’ Country, your child will explore, discover, and shine!  Please click here for information about the Kids’ Country Summer Programs.


Testing Update

Our district has decided to continue with ESGI for Kindergarten and FastBridge Assessments for Grades 1-5 in May in lieu of CAASPP/Smarter Balanced State Testing.  FastBridge will assess both Reading and Mathematics.  Teachers will be administering this assessment in the month of May.  Thank you for your support as testing changes were made this school year.


5th Grade Celebration

We are excited to celebrate our 5th Graders as they head off to middle school next year! On the last day of school (June 3rd), several events will take place to honor them. June 3rd is a remote day for all students, however, 5th graders will have the opportunity to be on campus for their final day of elementary school from 8:45-10:00am. Here is a schedule for the final day:

  • 8:00-8:30: 5th Grade Slideshow (AT HOME)
    • We will watch the slideshow together as a class. Families are encouraged to join and watch with us!
  • 8:45-10:00: Yearbook Signing/Games (ON CAMPUS)
    • 5th Graders can come to campus from 8:45-10:00am to sign each other’s yearbooks as well as play some games.
  • 11:30-12:30: Drive Thru Car Parade (ON CAMPUS)
    • Drive thru the Rancho loop one final time with your 5th graders as the Rancho staff cheers for them as they head to middle school! More details to come.

We need your help with creating the slideshow!  Please upload four to five photos of your child over their years in elementary school to this Google Form.  These may include individual, family, and photos with friends.  Please submit all photos by May 7th.


Missing the Last 10 Days/First 3 Days of School

As you plan your summer vacation, please note that the last day of school is Thursday, June 3.  Students should be in attendance through the last day of school, to maintain their enrollment at Rancho Romero.  Independent study contracts will not be issued the last 10 days of school.  All independent study contract work must be finished and returned by May 19, 2021. 


School will resume on Tuesday, August 10, 2021.  If your child does not attend the first three days of school, your student may lose their space at Rancho Romero.  Please click here for the SRVUSD policy regarding missing the last ten days/first three days of the school year.


Decision Tree - Sick Students

Students who are displaying symptoms will need to follow the Decision Tree in order to return back to school.  Siblings and staff of the sick student will also need to follow the Decision Tree.  Our office will be emailing families detailed directions to be cleared.  If students are absent from school due to illness or quarantine, please contact the teacher for make-up work.  If you have any questions, please email the office at rroffice-staff@srvusd.net.  Thank you for your support in keeping our school healthy and safe.


If there are any positive cases at school, we will notify the Rancho community.  SRVUSD have updated the Reopening Dashboard on our district website to reflect the additional work that has been done. You can also check out the COVID Tracking Dashboard.  This COVID Dashboard will allow you to monitor, in a very transparent manner, COVID-19 activity in the SRVUSD.


Early Dismissals

The SRVUSD wants to build awareness around the importance of regular attendance at school for all students.  Every student.  Every day.  With a few rare exceptions, that is our goal.  We want you here!  Please try to avoid scheduling appointments when school is in session.  If it is absolutely necessary to pick up your child during the school day, please email the teacher (copy rroffice-staff@srvusd.net) the day before your child's appointment.  Please include the reason for early dismissal as well as the date, time, and the name of the person picking up.   Please note that we are not able to accommodate pickups during recess or lunch time.  Students leaving early should be picked up shortly before or after recess/lunch.


Interested in Volunteering for Lunch Supervision?

We are looking for volunteers to help with one or both lunches.  Grades 1-2 will have their lunch at 11:00-11:45am and Grades 3-5 will have their lunch from 11:50-12:35pm.  Parent volunteers will be asked to show up 10 minutes early to check-in and get their volunteer assignment. Need a Device or Tech Support?

Need a device or a hotspot?  Place a Parent IT help ticket at parentithelp.srvusd.net.  Request for a device.  If your child is planning to return to hybrid, we are requesting for students to bring their own devices to school.  If you do not want your child to bring their home device, we recommend that you check-out a device from SRVUSD. 


Need help with logging in or getting apps to work?  You can call IT at 925-824-1840 on M-F from 7:30am-4:30pm (excluding holidays) or visit our Parent IT Help Website.


Dine Out Night @ Lamorinda Pizza - May 26th

Join us for the last Dine Out for Rancho night of the school year at Lamorinda Pizza in Alamo. Give yourself the night off cooking and support our school at the same time. Our last event at LP raised $600 for our school, let’s beat that number! Wednesday, May 26 between 4:00pm and 8:00pm, pick-up or delivery! Just mention Rancho when you order and 20% of all sales will be donated to Rancho.


We REALLY Need YOU!!!

RREF is on the hunt for parents interested in getting helping large and small next year. Our students and our school need parent volunteers to be successful. Please join us and help Rancho earn dollars that benefit every student. We’re actively recruiting for the following positions:

  • Merchant outreach chair
  • Spirit fundraising chair


Grab a friend and take on one position together, it's a great way to get involved and make a difference for our students.

“There’s No Place Like Rancho!” Virtual Auction - Thank You

Thank you to the families who supported our virtual auction last week. We will have fundraising totals to release very soon. Your support truly makes a difference for all students at Rancho Romero.


If you missed the virtual event there’s still time to contribute to our two Fund-A-Need campaigns. Please consider making a donation to one of these initiatives:

  • Classroom Literacy: We are in need of new books for our classroom libraries and book clubs. To promote the love for reading, we would like to update our current classroom libraries so students can select from a variety of interesting genres. Book club books are also needed to support students’ reading in our Reader’s Workshop.
  • School Improvements: Our school is in need of some updates! We need support with getting outdoor tables and equipment. We would like to make sure we have more tables for our students to eat lunch outdoors! Shade structures and electronic marquee are on our wishlist. 

 

Additionally, we have just a few spots left in the Prosecco and Pilates party with Level Up With Laurie. Grab your ticket today before it sells out.


Rancho RUN Club Achievements

Congratulations to the Rancho RoadRUNners, especially the top finishers, for their perseverance and efforts this year with virtual Run Club!


We had a total of 15 participants, who ran 340 total miles and 12 total marathons!


Of these students, 9 runners are being recognized with a certificate and medal for their achievement in at least a half-marathon total. The top male and female runners also received a personalized stainless water bottle.

Join Us for Rancho PTA Events for 2021-2022!

Dear Rancho Families,


The Rancho Romero PTA needs your help to bring back our favorite events for the 2021-2022 school year!  Please use this Google Form to mark the PTA events/committees you might be interested in helping with during the upcoming school year.  We're also welcome to new ideas and programs so feel free to share those on the form as well!


We are hoping for a more “normal” year (under then-required state/county/district guidelines).  Remember meeting your teacher before the first day of school with an ice pop?  Remember family social events like the ice cream social and BINGO night?  Remember the live talent show?  Remember carnival?  Parent volunteers are critical to our PTA’s mission as they help organize and execute ALL of the PTA-sponsored activities and events that make Rancho such a special school.  Without parent volunteers, these events will not happen.


And for those of you that joined Rancho in 2020 or 2021 and don’t even know what these events are….we want to meet you, get you involved and incorporate your new ideas for ways to celebrate our students, staff and community!

Grab & Go Lunch

On Monday, May 24th, we will be distributing 8 breakfasts and 8 lunches to cover meals through the Memorial Day Holiday (Monday, May 31st).  We will be serving at all current  22 serving locations between 11:00am-1:00pm.  


The next GNG Meal distribution will be on Tuesday, June 1st and we will be distributing 6 breakfasts and 6 lunches to cover meals through June 6th.  NOTE: The distribution sites for meal distribution June 1st - August (before the start of school)  will only be at three locations:
