About Mrs. Clark

Unbelievably, I am beginning my 20th year at Rancho! I have taught first grade, a second-third combo, and straight third. I love it all and feel so fortunate to be a part of this amazing learning community. When I was in elementary school, I loved art, reading biographies, and writing poetry. One of my favorite memories was winning the "estimate the jelly beans in the jar" contest at a school carnival. In addition to being a teacher, I am a mom of four. My oldest, Ross, is a 24-year-old graduate of  USC (my alma mater!) He's coaches swimming and water polo, and is considering a career in middle/high school education!. Maddie just started her senior year at University of Washington, where she studies Public Health, with an eye on nursing school. She is a champion Snapchatter and active in her sorority. My youngest, Eli, makes me smile every day. His birthday is 12-12-12! His current obsessions are Ninja Turtles and Legos. He attends Creative Learning Center three times a week. I always keep my sweet Shelby, my angel, in my heart. She loved merry-go-rounds and the movie Up. My husband, Randall, is head golf pro at nearby country club. Together, we enjoy picnics, camping, Giants baseball, and music. We also became the proud adoptive parents of a puppy this summer, a sweet cocker spaniel named Poppy!

Student teacher Casey Putvin begins work in our classroom Feb. 14. Please see the following for a short biography:

Hello Everyone! My name is Casey Putvin and I am a current student enrolled in the Multiple Subject Credential Program at Saint Mary's College of California. I recently graduated from Sonoma State University this past Fall semester with a Liberal Studies Degree. I am extremely excited to return to the East Bay where I was born and raised and where I can fulfill my dream of student teaching in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. In the past I have worked in a fifth grade classroom at Montair Elementary and a first grade classroom here at Rancho Romero. The past three summers I have also worked for the Town of Danville. The first two summers I worked for them as a camp counselor and my third summer I was promoted to camp site leader and was fortunate enough to run my own camp. Each summer I primarily worked with children ages 3-9. I'm extremely excited to start my student teaching with Ms. Clark next week and look forward to getting to know both you and your children over the next couple months!

I've entered the class in the latest Sumdog contest! This begins Friday, Feb. 10. If your child has time, encourage them to log on and do a few math problems to participate! Last time we had a few familiar names on the Leaderboard!

I am asking my third-graders to read 15-20 minutes nightly. In lieu of the traditional book log, I will be administering a "status of the class" two or three times weekly. This is when I ask random students what they are reading, mo... Read full story
