About Us

PTA Mission & Purpose

The mission of the Rancho PTA is to positively impact the lives of all children and families and serve to organize parent/family involvement in the Rancho school community. While the school staff prioritizes academics, the RREF (Rancho Romero Education Fund) raises money, and the SSC (School Site Council) makes recommendations for how funds are spent, the PTA partners with the school, RREF, and SSC to enhance the sense of community at Rancho.

The purpose of the Rancho PTA is the following according to our local and state PTAs:

  • Promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, places of worship, and throughout the community

  • Raise the standards of home life

  • Advocate for laws that further the education, physical and mental health, welfare, and safety of children and youth

  • Promote the collaboration and engagement of families and educators in the education of children and youth

  • Engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children and youth

  • Advocate for fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education funding

At Rancho specifically, we serve to organize the way parents and families can engage in the school community - whether volunteering in classrooms, leading and engaging events & initiatives, or providing perspective, feedback, advocacy, and collective collaboration with the school and teachers/staff. While RREF raises the funds for Rancho and SSC allocates where those funds go, our Rancho PTA ensures that the community and social/emotional experience for families and children is a positive one.

PTA Membership

Rancho's PTA is one "unit" within the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs (the group of all of the PTAs  in the SRVUSD school district) which is part of a larger PTA group for the County called the 32nd District PTA, the state of California PTA called "CAPTA", and the National PTA.

When you purchase a "PTA Family Membership", you commit $40 for the year. This supports the events, initiatives, and advocacy work being done at the school, within the SRVUSD district through the SRV Council of PTAs, and beyond. With your membership, you enjoy free admission to all of the PTA-sponsored events including family fun nights, parent education, socials, the international festival and more.

If you'd like to purchase a family membership for $40, it's not too late! You can purchase one during the online registration process and after that, you can purchase through the Future Fund Store.

If your child has enjoyed the Ice Cream Social, the end of year Carnival, the Talent Show, Soul Shoppe workshops in the classroom, Red Ribbon Week, Kindness Matters Week, the International Festival, Harvest of the Month, Rancho Giving Nights, Noontime Sports at recess, or if you have enjoyed the Welcome Back and Principal's Coffees, PTA Parent Mixers, Parent Education events, and more, not to mention Run Club, the Yearbook, and advocacy work through Rancho PTA collaboration with the school and staff in general, then your family has benefited from the Rancho PTA!

As a PTA member, you also enjoy these benefits when using your PTA membership card at local businesses. You can obtain your membership card by going to the school office, opening the "PTA Box" in the cabinet, finding the folder labeled "Membership" and taking one of the cards. Fill it out and enjoy! Our National PTA ID number is: 00008516 and our CA State PTA number is: 2747

OUR BUDGET

The Rancho PTA raises money each year only for those programs and experiences that are voted and approved by the PTA Association. To view our detailed budget, come to one of our PTA Association meetings scheduled for this year! We raise money through the following means:

- Family Memberships

- Run Club Fees

- Yearbook Fees

- Eat Out For School Events

- Box Tops Collection

- Run for Education

Since RREF does most of the fundraising around the school community, Rancho PTA tries to raise funds in ways that are subtle asks and don't "beg" or run frequent campaigns, with the exception of our cooperation with RREF and the School to engage the APEX experience. We like to focus our efforts on boosting the experience of the school community and organizing the participation of parents and families in the school experience rather than being seen as a large fundraising entity. So long as we can support our initiatives through the fundraisers above, we will not need to make large or frequent asks of our parent and larger local community.

The Rancho PTA is an affiliate under CA PTA’s Letter of Determination and 501(c)3 registration. As an SRVCPTA unit, we have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status under CAPTA’s group exemption. The group exemption number 0646 (needed for the 990 filing).

Any questions about the budget, money, and PTA should be directed to the PTA President.
